As an online writer there is something that just drives me nuts, it's when a Blogger steals my content without quoting the source or steals my articles, re-arranges them and then calls them their own. And unfortunately this happens way too much. How do I know this? Well, I have subscribed to Google Alerts under the various things that I usually write about and my name. What I find is that my articles end up syndicated all over the Internet. Every day I see 2-8 articles that have been taken.
My average article is on 20-30 blogs from what I can see. And appears in about 18 other places such as ezines, industry websites, print media and newsletters on average. Indeed, it provides links and traffic to my websites, which is part of the strategy I guess. And more importantly it helps me distribute information to the World. It's all good, well, until someone steals your work, re-writes it, claims it as their own.
How can I stop them?
Well, interestingly enough, I do not have time to chase down everyone who steals my content and those who steal my content probably know this. So, these content thieves are aware of such and take the risk. This is how they successfully rip off my content, knowing I am a prolific online article writer often posting 20+ articles in a single day. Sometimes more and sometimes less.
I just have one thing to say to the content thieves; Stop sneaking around, and leave in the links to my articles and leave my name on them. This way you will not be considered an evil doer in my mind. If you want good content there is lots of it but stealing is wrong. If you want to re-write it, claim it as yours, then for gosh sakes pay for it and a writer can somewhere will be glad to ghost write for you, there are people that do that too.
